Change is good and I am in the middle of big changes. After a few years working at my own business, I am changing direction. I have begun a school counseling program at Lewis &Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling. It's an excellent program with a focus on social justice and I am so excited to be re-engaging in the intellectual community! Even though I adore making metal pieces, doing it for a living has grown to be very lonely and hard on my body. I'd much rather be creating for joy, than profit. I have lots of ideas I never had time to pursue, because the bulk of my income depended on production lines that are drudgery to make. I can't wait to get back to art as a serious hobby, not as a means to pay the bills. Somewhere along the line, I feel I lost myself as an artist, which has contributed to my change in career path. Right now, my business is in transition. I've stopped my production lines on etsy.com and for now, am making only a handful more custom pieces here at Honey &Milk this month. Beginning in September, I will only be making one-of-a-kind pieces at please me as an artist. If I want to, I may offer them for sale. But I anticipate that eventually, this site will be more of a showcase than a shop. For now, Honey &Milk's webshop will remain open and stay tuned for some clearance sales coming up. After the winter holidays, the esty.com shop will close. I hope you'll keep following my story and I am deeply grateful for your support! Bits and PiecesTay MacIntyrehttp://www.honey-and-milk.com/2008-10-30T05:56:11Zhttp://www.honey-and-milk.com/blog/bits-and-piecesSomeone who visited my website for the first time pointed out a "missing piece" of information. Specifically, this blog. I announced my breast cancer diagnosis last December and then...*poof*, no more posts here. Great news, I am alive and well. I hope that if you are interested in the continuing saga of my artistic journey or my personal health and healing challenges, you will stop by my real blogs : found object , a place to be inspired by new work &gorgeous photos. turnip , a place to tune in for the latest on my personal world, including life after cancer. Yes, I survived breast cancer and am now learning how to thrive after treatment. I have another surgery, hopefully my last, for reconstruction, this December. Thank-you for your support this year and as we go into the holiday season, I hope you'll think of Honey &Milk, or my other shop, Bread + Butter , for gifts. The prices have only gone up a wee amount to cover the my cost on the belts, so they are still affordable wearable art! I searched all over to find these and they are made by a small artisan leather company in the midwest. Very good quality and super sharp with the copper buckles! I just got a few to start, until I see what the trend in sizes will be...so if you want one, get it now! Warm winter holiday wishes to all. Your support and encouragement is sustaining and inspiring!
